- Developed a corporate growth strategy for Telstra Retail. Work included assessing opportunities in broadband, internet data centres, systems integration, utilities and potential take-over targets
- Completed a sales and marketing strategy for Telstra Retail - in order to reverse recent market share losses in data communications products
- Performed a strategic review of the entire Television New Zealand Group of companies. Scope included new free to air, PayTV, Internet and various telecommunications investments
- Developed an outsider's view of the growth and productivity opportunities immediately available to one of Australia's 'big4' banks
- Provided an assessment of the key revenue streams and operating costs for Macquarie Bank's proposed A$850m Broadcast Australia acquisition. Work included assessing the potential of new markets, such as digital TV, datacasting and digital radio, as well as detailed competitor, technology and regulatory analysis
- Provided strategy and investment risk advice to the major investor and Board of NextGen Networks. Work included scoping broadband market demand in Australia, assessing the competitive market position and quantifying the cost- advantage delivered by the chosen fibre-optic technology
- Completed a strategic planning, product development and market segmentation analysis process for Cyberlynx, Australia's largest business to business (B2B) procurement service provider
- Evaluated a market entry opportunity for an entrant into the Portuguese Pay TV market
- Completed the strategic planning processes for PowerTel's entry into the Australian telecommunications market. Process included target market selection, product selection, competitor analysis, pricing analysis and roll-out strategy
- Completed an entry strategy and partner negotiations for interactive TV player, Two Way TV's entry into the Australian market
- Provided an 'independent expert' report on the market, regulatory and technology risk issues for the public prospectus of Macquarie Communications Group - Broadcast Australia
- Delivered Strategic investment advice to a number of leading Australian asset managers considering investments in broadband cable, wireless packet data, ISPs and an international undersea fibre cable consortium
- Devised a telecommunications entry strategy and four way joint venture agreement between Energex, EnergyAustralia, CitiPower and Williams Communications - which led to the formation and launch of PowerTel
- Performed a commercial and engineering due-diligence for a consortium considering the purchase of the National Transmission Agency
- Acted as a commercial advisor to Leighton Holdings Limited on a telecommunications take-over target
- Co-authored a book for the U.K. based Financial Times, titled 'Investing in Asian Telecommunications'
- Performed a prime advisory role to the South African Broadcasting Authority setting up PayTV and Satellite regulations
- Scoped the costs of the ABC, SBS, commercial regional broadcaster and community broadcaster's digital television conversion roll-out on behalf of the Department of Communications
- Conducted an industry-wide consultation process to assess the effect of digital broadcasting on Community TV Broadcasters - on behalf of the Department of Communications, IT and Arts. Work also included developing various technology options and procurement strategies
- Conducted a detailed specification, selection and negotiation process for the vendor of the Whole of Victoria Government Broadband Wide Area Network. Work included assessing over 12 Government agencies' communications needs, the broader communities communications needs, selecting preferred technologies and services, running a competitive tender process, modelling benefits, and negotiating carrier terms and conditions
- Evaluated the procurement and contractual processes of the ABC and SBS for their proposed A$1,000m roll-out of digital television throughout Australia on behalf of the Department of Communications, IT and Arts
- Developed National Australia Bank's interactive television entry strategy which included conducting strategic partner negotiations with broadcasters and content providers
